Benchmark Electronics to Expand Asian Manufacturing and Engineering Capacity

Benchmark Electronics, Inc., a leading contract manufacturing provider, announced plans to expand its manufacturing and engineering capacity in Asia in response to the strong demand for services.

The company plans to start-up its second manufacturing site in Thailand. The facility, located in Nakorn Rachasima (Korat), Thailand approximately 125 miles northeast of Bangkok, was acquired in the 2002 acquisition. This site offers 125,000 square feet of manufacturing space with an additional 55,000 square feet available for future expansion. Benchmark anticipates the facility will be fully operational by the third quarter of 2004.

Additionally, Benchmark has been expanding its engineering design team in Asia, further enhancing its service offerings in this geography. This action has also been in response to the increased demand for engineering services.
