Benchmark Electronics Reaffirms Guidance for Fourth Quarter 2004

ANGLETON, Texas

Benchmark Electronics, Inc. announced today that it continues to expect fourth quarter revenue to be between $505 million to $530 million, with corresponding diluted earnings per share of $0.41 to $0.45. The Company expects the fourth quarter results to be in line with analysts' consensus of $521.6 million revenues and earnings per share of $0.44, in the upper end of the guidance previously provided at the time of the third quarter earnings release on October 21, 2004.

The Company is currently finalizing its financial closing for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2004. Results for the fourth quarter will be announced on February 8, 2005. A conference call hosted by Benchmark management will be held at 10:00 am (Central time) on February 8, 2005 to discuss the financial results of the Company and its future outlook.
